Donald Eugene Bossi

Freedom, NH-Donald E. Bossi, 81 of Freedom died Nov. 22, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family after a 26 year battle against cancer. Donald was born in Dorchester, MA on March 3, 1931 and was the son of the late Romeo and Pia M. (Bernasconi) Bossi. He was a graduate of Boston Technical High School and received his bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Boston University in 1952. He also attended Bryant College's Graduate program majoring in Accounting. He served in the United States Air Force, after receiving a direct commission, during the Korean War in the Strategic Air Command where he was an instructor in Electronics and Warfare Counter Measures. He was stationed at Castle Air Force Base in the 93rd Bomb Wing and the 328th Bomb Squadron. He designed the 328th's Bomb Squadron insignia and was also assigned to the Air Force's B-52 (Bomber) Acceptance Team at Edward's Air Force Base, both bases were in CA. In Providence, RI Donald was a Supervisor in the Management Consulting Division of Ernst & Ernst, Vice President at Fleet Bank (formerly Industrial National Bank), and Senior Banking and Financial Representative at IBM. He was elected a Councilman in Barrington, RI and served six years Prior to his retirement in 1996, he was a co-founder, director, executive Vice President, and Chief Operating Officer of Centerpoint Bank, a new bank which opened in June 1990 in Bedford, NH. As a result of these efforts he was nominated in1994 by Ernst and Young, a national accounting firm, as an Entrepreneur of the Year. He held the position of Senior Vice President-Director of Strategic Planning and Marketing and Secretary of the Charitable Foundation at Indian Head Banks Inc. in Nashua, NH. He was Executive Vice President of Indian Head National Bank in Nashua. At one time he was also the President of Indian Head Data Services Inc., a subsidiary of Indian Head Banks Inc. Most recently he was the Principal of Stategic Resources a sole-proprietorship he started in 1987 to provide consulting to New Hampshire based financial institutions. He was also an Incorporator of Centrix Bank and Trust (a new bank) in Bedford, NH. He was a communicant of St. Andrews-in-the-Valley in Tamworth and the Freedom First Christian Church of which he was a Trustee. Donald was Vice Chairman of the Zoning Board of Adjustment in Freedom and a member of the Strategic Air Command and Air Force Societies. He was the artist for six of the collector tiles in the series depicting various scenes in Freedom including the tile produced for the Millennium 2000. He was a Certified Data Processor, a Counselor and Vice Chairman of the Mt. Washington Chapter of SCORE Association (Counselor to America's Small Business) in Conway, NH, and had been an educator and frequent speaker for both New Hampshire and National Organizations. He was elected to the Board of Directors of the VNA-Hospice association in Wolfeboro, NH. He was on the Freedom Old Home Coming Committee and was a Parade Judge a number of times. Pre-Deceased by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth L. Bossi in November of 2003 he is survived by a brother Karl R. Bossi a retired Air Force Lt. Col. Of Venice, FL, his daughter Pamela M. Bossi of Australia, his son Mark a retired Chief Master Sergeant who served in the U.S. Air Force and Mark's wife Nancy of Belfast, ME, 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held at the First Christian Freedom Church at 2pm on Sunday December 2, 2012. There will be a reception to follow next door at the Freedom Town Hall.
