Jonathan Lawrence Maddock

Jonathan Lawrence Maddock, 66, of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, passed away on December 19th, 2021. Jon had battled with the devastating disease ALS since 2019, and passed peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of the morning. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and grew up in Westport, Connecticut in the house his father built. His parents were Lawrence Richard Maddock and Frances Louise (Nevins) Maddock, who predeceased him. Growing up in Westport, Jon enjoyed bike rides to the beach with his mother, fly fishing, playing trombone in the Staples High School band, and driving in his Corvair. He helped his father build a house in Vermont, and while there, Jon became interested in skiing. Since Jon wanted to learn how to ski, his parents decided to learn also. Jon graduated from the University of Maine in 1977. He then decided to bicycle cross country, and afterwards he went to work at Stratton Mountain in Vermont. Jon moved to New Jersey, where he became a stock broker, and met his wife, Karen L. Alfaro, of 36 years. They married on October 19th, 1985. Jon and Karen enjoyed sailing their Hobie Cat with Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club. Jon served as commodore of the club for several years. He also volunteered with the sailing program for the Special Olympics and mentored a Special Olympian. In 1994, Karen and Jon welcomed Kelsey Lynn Maddock into the world a few months earlier than expected. With lots of love, she thrived. In 2000, Jon, Karen, and Kelsey packed up their belongings from New Jersey and moved to Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. Jon started his career as a designer in the engineering department of Laars Heating Systems. He enjoyed his work immensely and looked forward to going every day. In Jon's downtime, his family and good friends skied together at Cranmore Mountain, and during the summer he and his family swam in their pool. Jon is survived by his beloved wife Karen and daughter Kelsey. He is also survived by sisters Sandy Haskett with her two children and spouses and their children, Becky and husband Ray Racine with their three children and spouses and their children, and Judy Anderson. He also leaves behind many cousins. Jon's witty humor and corny jokes will be truly missed by all. The Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with the arrangements.
