Susan Marie Galvin-walsh

Susan Marie Galvin-Walsh 67 of Center Ossipee, passed away at Langdon Place in Dover, NH. Susan was a true "miracle child." The doctor told her mom, "Jesus will walk the Earth before you have another child!" Well, on May 26th 1955, my true "miracle" came into this world screaming a high "C." Susan's love for performing started early-dance theater right up to high school. Susan graduated from Malden High School. Then off to the University of Lowell where she continued her love for performing on stage. And received her B.A and a Master's degree. Susan was comfortable playing ANY role from Opera Papagena in "The Magic Flute," Rock singer "Piece of my heart," and musical theater (Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd). She was what the theater people refer to as a "triple threat." Susan could go en pointe, do a traveling triple time step, or a hot jazz dance. Susan's love for performing started at the age of 4. Susan and another girl were in a dance recital. The end of the dance was supposed to be the two of them doing somersaults off stage right and left. The other girl just ran off. Not MY HONEY-she did 6 somersaults to exit. The audience went crazy clapping and cheering for her. That was the performer in her. After that she was with Virginia Graham's Boston Ballet. Susan was in Nutcracker from the age of 6-12 in various roles-a mouse, a child party goer, and a child under Mother Ginger's voluminous party dress. After graduation, Susan was extremely active in musical theater. Susan was one of Boston's most talented actresses. Susan was so gifted that she was nominated for an Eliot Norton award for her role as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd. Kevin Kelly wrote in his review (yes, he used to come out to Newton) and the review he wrote said "Susan Galvin Walsh is a 'tour de force' in the role she was born to play-Mrs. Lovett. From her superfluous cockney accent to her enchanting voice." (Susan sang ALL the alternate notes. Why? Because she can.) Susan commanded the stage and gave the audience a completely, scintillating delicious performance. She won IRNEs for her role(s) as Mrs Lovett in Sweeney, Little Red Riding Hood in "Into The Woods," and her other iconic role as Eva Peron. Thank God for giving us musical theater! Without musical theater I would have never met Susan Marie Galvin at the 1982 auditions for HAIR at Turtle Lane Playhouse. We were both cast and from that day we became true loves, best friends, and husband and wife for 40 years. But now instead of "Elvis" it is the "Tour De Force" has left the building. These are my final words for My Honey. "What is love?" Love is THE most immeasurable, intense feeling a person can have. You must learn to hold onto it like a mother holds her newborn child. Not too hard, but loosely with gentle loving hands. Loosely, so when your very best friend and wife leaves this world. The pain will not be as devastatingly painful. On May 26th 1955, my "miracle" came into this world. Her name: Susan Marie Galvin. But to me, she was and always WILL be "My Honey!!" Her laughter, tears, comfort, smile and warmth for her fellow man was given to all with pureness of heart. Her smile was as wide as the Universe. Her eyes glimmered like the brightest star in the Heavens. She is my world, my life, my loving wife. "My Honey!!" But on July 4th 2022, I was ground bound. My Honey left this World to go "home" to Heaven to be with all her family and friends and stand next to God. But I was left on this earth to make wings from tears and broken dreams. These last weeks I have had nightmares. You see, I believe I have a very creative mind. And sometimes, sometimes it creates a false reality. "My Honey" is still here!! And she's alive!! And all our wishes and dreams I wish we HAD done, we can STILL get done. I keep playing this over and over and over again! And I am so damn tired of playing God and trying to cope and come to terms that "My Honey" is never coming back to me. And THAT is the cost of Love. Caring for someone sooo much you think "I Can't Go On Without Her!" Looking at her urn on the mantle with my mother-in-law Gertrude and our "fur" children Henry and Colleen. Saying "I would be happy to trade places with you." But, we all know this isn't reality. Now, I know I said "to hold onto love, loosely" so when your true love leaves you the exit isn't as painful, but the pain and the truly wonderful amazing memories, are all I will have left of you. I will never forget these scars. I'm JUST trying to hold on to you. So Susan, "Cookie" (the endearing name given to her by the nursing staff), "My Chicken " (Dad's nickname for her) and especially "My Honey !!": I will ALWAYS have you with me in my heart and soul, and when it is my time I can't wait until you greet me with the biggest longest hug and kiss at the Pearly Gates. Then we will be as we always were "One!" In lieu of flowers a generous donation in her memory to The Alzheimer's Association may be made. I thank all of my family and friends from the bottom of my heart. "Suck & Chew"
