WOLFEBORO — Emma (Grenier) Boles, 84, of Wolfeboro, passed away Friday Aug. 20, at Wolfeboro Bay Care and Rehabilitation. She lived at The Ledges for many years before moving to Wolfeboro Bay Care due to her decline in healthShe was born May 2, 1926 in Lowell, Mass., the daughter of Edmond and Laura (Alley) Grenier of Somersworth. Emma was the widow of her one love, William H. Boles. While in the U.S. Army Nurses Corps, were she was a second lieutenant, she met her husband in San Antonio, Texas, and was married July 12, 1949 in Phoenix, Ariz.Emma lived in San Francisco, Calif., Dover, Framingham, Mass., and Phoenix, Ariz., and returned to Somersworth in 1977 after her husband's death. She moved to Wolfeboro in 1999 after retiring from 52 years of nursing. Emma belonged to the local grange in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Arizona, was very involved in Somersworth Girl Scouts, both as a child and as an adult, and taught many students in a course to become certified nurses' aides. Emma leaves behind her daughter Mary "Terry" Kennedy and her husband Robert Kennedy of Alton Bay; her grandson, Richard Miller Jr. of Campton; and two great-grandchildren — Richard M. Miller and Adrianna A. Miller. Emma also leaves behind her extended family at Wolfeboro Bay Care & Rehab, were she served as a volunteer and a friend to many. She volunteered many years and hours calling bingo, sending in requests for birthday greetings from the local Senator and President, doing anything they needed a little help with and assisting on bus trips.
