Wolfeboro-John Charles Barkas, 94 of Wolfeboro died May 28, 2011 in Los Osos, CA. He has lived in Wolfeboro for the past 35 years moving there from Brookline, MA. John was born in West Roxbury, MA May 11, 1917 son of the late Constantine and Mary (Chalikis) Barkas. He served his country during WWII in the United States Army as a First Sergeant. For many years he was an accountant in the Boston area. John was a communicant of St Katharine Drexel Church in Alton, was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow from Rotary, was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, a member of the Knights of Columbus and was an honoree Citizen of Dublin, Ireland. Pre-Deceased by his first wife Anna Barkas, his second wife Mary (Levengie) Barkas and a sister Helen Simmons he is survived by 2 sons and there wives Mike and Patty Barkas of Vallejo, CA Tim and Ellen Barkas of Morro Bay, CA, 3 daughters and there husbands Mary Lou and Bill Keyworth of San Francisco, CA, Natalie and Tony Santos of Los Osos, CA, Theresa and Leo Gonsolis of Elk Grove, CA 2 step sons and there wives Paul and Annette Kimball of Wolfeboro, NH, John and Janet Kimball of Center Harbor, NH a sister Argara G. Polechronis of Walpole, MA, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Monday June 6, 2011 at St Katharine Drexel Church in Alton, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Wolfeboro.
