Starr F. Schlobohm

Wolfeboro, NH-Starr F. Schlobohm, 83 of Greenleaf Dr., Wolfeboro died Feb. 3, 2012 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA. Born in Cleveland, OH October 27, 1928 son of the late Frederick G. and Ina May (Starr) Schlobohm. Starr graduated from Wesleyan University in 1950 as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa society, Summa Cum Laude, also as a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, the Debate Team and editor of the year book during his junior year. He also graduated from Harvard Business School in 1952 with Highest Honors ranking first in his class of 500. From 1952 – 1954 he served his country with the United States Air Force being discharged as a Lieutenant. Starr worked for Reader’s Digest in New York City from 1960-1978 as Director of Marketing/Advertising Sales. After leaving there he returned to school and received his doctorate degree in Marketing and Economics from New York University. From 1978-1997 he was a professor of Economics and Business Administration at the University of New Hampshire Whittemore School. Starr also owned Starr F. Schlobohm Oil Operations and Royal Drilling Inc. of Russell Kansas. Pre-deceased by a son Jeffrey he is survived by his wife Dorothy Burns (Whittemore) Schlobohm of Wolfeboro, 2 children Pamela Kay Schlobohm of Santa Monica, CA, Starr F. Schlobohm Jr., of Cape Cod, MA, 4 step children Kenneth Burns of Wilton Manors, FL, Martha Burns of Nashua, NH, Dana Burns of Chelmsford, MA, Andrew Burns of Hamilton, OH, a sister Joan Stapf of Parma, OH, a niece Karen Walters, a nephew Brian Stapf, 2 great nephews, a great niece and 6 step grand children. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM February 14, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Wolfeboro. Donations may be made in his memory to the Pay it Forward Scholarship Fund, C/O First Christian Church, 81 N. Main St., Wolfeboro, NH 03894 The Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Wolfeboro is assisting the family with the arrangements.
