Tuftonboro, NH-Leo A. Labonte, 80 of Spruce Drive formerly of Route 41, Madison died August 20, at the Mountain View Community in Ossipee with his wife at his side. Leo was born August 25, 1931 in Lowell, MA son of the late Alfred G. and Marie Blanche Eva (Turgeon) Labonte. He served his country with the United States Army 187 Airborne R.T.C. during the Korean Conflict where he was wounded and received two Purple Hearts, Occupation of Japan Korean Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, two Bronze Stars and a Parachute Badge. Leo worked at Western Electric and A.T.T. in North Andover, MA for 32 years retiring in 1990. He was a Parishioner of St. Rita’s Church. Pre-deceased by his first wife Shirley (Monaghan) Labonte, 2 brothers Raymond Labonte and Ernest Labonte, and 4 sisters Bertha Miller, Florence O’Shaughnessy, Lillian Woesnener and Beatrice Donohue. Survivors include his wife Ellen (Morrill) Labonte, 2 sons Brian E. Labonte of Chelmsford, MA, Leo C. Labonte of Lowell, MA, 3 daughters Donna Labonte Hartman of Bedford, NH, Patricia Labonte Bissonnette of Stewartsville, NJ, Sharon Labonte Whalen of Metheun, MA, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. At Leo’s request there will be no services, he will be interned at the NH Veterans Cemetery.
