Wolfeboro-Donald M. Morgan Sr., 81 died October 17, 2012 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth. Born in Alfred, ME April 30, 1931 the son of the late Harry D. and Eleanor (Wentworth ) He grew up in Wolfeboro and always considered Wolfeboro his home. Don retired from the United Sates Army after 22 years as a Chief Warrant Officer and moved back to Wolfeboro. During his career he fought in the Korean and Vietnam Wars as a helicopter pilot. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with 6 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal w 60 Device, Army Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, 6 Over Seas Bars and the Bronze Star Medal. In 1973 he moved back to Wolfeboro where he worked for Ossipee Oil, Cliffords Doughnuts, Pfleuger Landscaping, Wolfeboro Police Department and for the last 20 years he has worked part-time for the Baker-Gagne Funeral Homes and Cremation Service. Don was an active member with the V.F.W. and the American Legion serving as Commander for both organizations and moving on to serve as the State Commander. He volunteered his time organizing the Wolfeboro Fourth of July Parade, Fireworks and Carnival with the V.F.W. and was Santa Claus in Wolfeboro for many years. He also volunteered with the Wolfeboro Children’s Fund collecting toys for children at Christmas time and the annual Benson’s Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner. Don and his late wife were always very generous and were always helping someone in need never asking for anything in return. Pre-Deceased by his wife B. Faye Beaulieu (Hassell) last year, a granddaughter Jasmine Morgan and a great-granddaughter Chloe Verrill, he leaves 2 sons Donald Morgan Jr. of Long Beach, CA, Kenneth Morgan of Wolfeboro, 2 daughters Kathleen Wiggins of Middleton, Melody Morgan of Chocorua, 2 brothers Maynard Morgan of Milton, Lee Morgan of Rochester, a sister Mona Charles of Wolfeboro, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren , numerous nieces and nephews, many friends and his first wife Carol (Shannon) Bernard. A Memorial Service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday October 23, at the Wolfeboro First Baptist Church. A gathering will follow at the American Legion Post on Center St., in Wolfeboro. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Wolfeboro at the convenience of the family. The Baker-Gagne Funeral Homes and Cremation service of Wolfeboro and West Ossipee are assisting the family with the arrangements.
