Robert P. Heavey, Sr., 84, of Wolfeboro, NH, died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at his daughter’s home in Londonderry, NH, surrounded by family. He is survived by one daughter, Mary E. McQueeney and her husband Michael of Londonderry, two sons, Robert P. Heavey, Jr of Manchester, NH and Frank J. Heavey and his wife Whitney of Acton, MA, five Granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Grace and Madeleine, one brother, Jack Heavey of Chatham, MA, as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Esther B. (Bradley) Heavey in 2001 and by his sister M. Patricia Gaffney. He was born September 30, 1928 in Boston, MA, the youngest son of the late John and Madeleine (Mulloy) Heavey. He was raised and educated in Belmont, MA, then received an Engineering Degree from Boston College in 1950. He was employed as a computer engineer at GTE for 33 years. He and his wife Esther lived in Sudbury, MA for over 25 years prior to retiring to their lake house in Wolfeboro. A proud volunteer, Bob was a driver for the So. Carroll County Caregivers for many years. As an avid golfer and member of the Indian Mound Country Club, Bob was proud to have made 4 holes-in-one, as well as shooting a 75 at age seventy-nine. He was a member of St. Katharine Drexel church in Alton, as well as a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 4-7 pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, and 9-10:45 am on Saturday, December 29 at the Baker-Gagne Funeral Home, 85 Mill Street, Wolfeboro. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 am at St. Katharine Drexel Church, Hidden Springs Road, Alton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02115.
