Margaret "Peg" E. Newton

Lancaster-Margaret “Peg” E. (Winters) Newton, 102 of Lancaster, NH previously of Tuftonboro and Wolfeboro, died October 26 at The County Village Nursing Home in Lancaster. Peg was born in Swampscott, MA August 3, 1911 daughter of the late Rollin and Sadie (Barnes) Winters. She grew up in Needham, MA and moved to Wolfeboro in 1987 from Harwich Center, MA. Peg was a very active member in the Tuftonboro United Methodist Church. Being the oldest resident of Tuftonboro she was the holder of the Boston Post Cane Award in Tuftonboro Pre-deceased by her husband Rowland F. Newton SR, 2 sons Rowland F. Newton Jr., Stephen A. Newton, 2 brothers Albert Hopkins, Rollin Winters Jr., and 2 sisters Hazel Winters and Marion Hill. She is survived by a son David W. Newton of Lancaster, a brother Warren W. Winters of Williamstown, MA, 3 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling Hours will be 3-7 PM Friday November 1, at the Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 85 Mill St., Wolfeboro, NH. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday November 2, at the Tuftonboro United Methodist Church followed by burial at Townhouse Cemetery in Tuftonboro. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Tuftonboro United Methodist Church.
