Tuftonboro, NH-Edward Frederick Sayce, 85 of Mirror Lake Drive, died Wednesday Evening December 4, at his home. Born in Jamaica Plain, MA March 13, 1928 son of the late Edward Gladstone and Emma B. (Mueller) Sayce, he lived in Needham, MA from 1929 to 1971. Ed graduated from Needham High School in 1946 then went in the army and was stationed in occupation troops in Japan in 1946 and 1947. In 1947 he attended Military School in 8th Army. After his discharge from the army he attended Wentworth Institute and received a degree in Machine Construction and Tool Design in 1951 and Northeastern University from 1952 to 1955. Ed worked as a senior Design Mechanical Engineer for Edgerton, Germeshausen and Greer from 1951 to 1971. In 1971 he moved to Mirror Lake, Tuftonboro, NH and went back to school at the University of NH continuing education program from 1972 to 1977 while working as a vocational education teacher in Governor Wentworth School District, Kingswood Regional High School in the Automotive/Small Engines program from 1972 to 1985. As an active member of the Melvin Village Community Church Ed was a past chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee. Ed was a member of the Indian Mound Golf Club, the Silver Streaks at Waterville Valley and Past President of the Mirror Lake Estates Association and road agent. He was an avid skier, golfer and builder of model ships. Survivors include his wife Joan S. Sayce of Tuftonboro, a son Edward W. Sayce of Nashua, NH, a daughter Carol Ann Barratt of Long Valley, NJ 2 granddaughters 3 grandsons and 2 great granddaughters. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday December 14, at the Melvin Village Community Church in Melvin Village Community Church Deacons Fund or the Tuftonboro Fire Dept.
