Thomas Toleos

Thomas Toleos, 92, of Alton Bay, New Hampshire, formerly of Danvers, MA, former U.S. Government Inspector of DCASR Boston until retiring in 1972, passed away on December 29. He was the son of the late James A. Toleos and Annie H. (Stever) Toleos. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy Mary (David) Toleos who died in 1990. Born and raised in Salem, MA, he was a 1940 graduate of Salem High School. He was a graduate of Lincoln Engineering School, Coyne Electrical & Technical School and Saunders Radio and Television School. He also studied Bible with Ambassador Bible College. He was a former Massachusetts National Guardsman having served with the 102nd Field Artillery 26th Yankee Division as a Corporal. He also served as a U.S. Army Infantry Sergeant during World War II. He held the rank of Major in the Army Reserve. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and also the 100th Infantry Division Association. Tom was a dedicated Bible teacher with a Fundamentalist Baptist background and held an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree. He was a former member of the Salem Lodge of Elks and the American Legion of New Hampshire Post 200. He was honored by the Commonwealth of Kentucky with the award of a Kentucky Colonel Commission. Tom was a long time Amateur Radio Operator with the call letters K1DZU. He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Ronald T. and Kendra Toleos of Newbury, Elaine and Andrew Metropolis and Christine and Joseph Neenan, all of Peabody; his grandchildren, Aaron Toleos and his wife Susan of Boxford, Teddy Metropolis and his wife Heather of Merrimac, the late Ali Neenan Herman and her husband Nathan, Georgia Metropolis, Becky Neenan, and Tommy Neenan, all of Peabody; three great-grandchildren, Annie, James and Adam Toleos, all of Boxford; a sister, Eleanor McAlpine and her husband Richard of New Hampshire and a brother, Teddy Toleos and his wife Theresa of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Arthur Toleos, Charlie Toleos, Nick Toleos and Leo Toleos. Visiting hours will be 2 to 3:30 PM Saturday, January 4, followed by a memorial service at 3:30 PM at the Baker-Gagne Funeral Home, 85 Mill Street, Wolfeboro, NH, 03894.
