Brenda Hogan

March 24, 1929 — July 4, 2014

Ossipee, NH-Brenda T. Hogan, 85, died Friday July 4 at Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood NH. She was born in Haverhill MA, daughter of the late S. Scott Thompson and Marjorie Durkee Thompson. A graduate of Haverhill High School and The Fay School of Boston, she resided in Haverhill, moving to New Hampshire to Kingston in 1958 and Ossipee in 1987. Brenda was a member of the Kingston Congregational Church, a Library Trustee, involved in her children’s activities: Cub Scout den mother, Brownies and 4-H assistant. Many will remember her as their swim instructor and as their teacher at Little River Kindergarten, which she operated for 12 years. In Ossipee, Brenda was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Ossipee Valley Women’s Club, and Friends of the Library. She was also an active member of the Indian Mound Golf Club and the Women’s League Bowling in Fryeburg, ME. At this time she developed her enjoyment of painting primitive Americana pieces which her children and grandchildren treasure. She is survived by four children: Alison Rich of Derry; Sallyanne Blanchette of Farmington; Scott Gould of Bethel, ME; Pamela Currier of Epping, as well as stepdaughter Peg Reinfuss of Tamworth and Glenn Hogan of Ossipee, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Roland B. Hogan of Ossipee and son Geoffrey P. Gould. Calling hours will be Sunday July 13 1-3 pm at the Baker-Gagne Funeral Home 2395 White Mountain Highway Rt. 16, West Ossipee, NH. Brenda requested no flowers please, but memorial contributions may be made to the Brain Injury Association of America, PO Box 7414 Merrifield VA 22116 or the Alzheimer’s Association, Five Bedford Farms Dr. Ste. 201, Bedford NH 03110. Family will hold a private burial at Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac MA at a later date. Family thanks the staff at both Mountain View and Rockingham County Nursing Homes for their wonderful care through each of Mom’s stages of illness.
