John Sanford Waterman

April 1, 1931 — August 4, 2014

Center Barnstead, NH-John Sanford Waterman, 83 of Varney Rd., died August 4, at his home in Barnstead. Born in Johnson, VT April 1, 1931 son of the late Thomas Howard and Alice (Mills) Waterman he grew up in Johnson attended Kurnhattin School in Westminster, Vt and graduated from Needham, High School in Needham, MA. He has lived in Center Barnstead for 3 years previously living is Castleton, VT. John served his country with the United States Navy as a scuba diver, machinist and a fireman during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Cost Accountant for the Reece Corporation in Waltham, MA for 32 years. John was a member of the American Legion Crippens Fellows Post #50 in Bomoseen, VT, a former deacon of the Castleton Federated Church, a Girl Scout Volunteer, coached Softball and Basketball in Sharon, MA bringing 2 softball teams to state championships and was an avid Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox fan. He had a very close relationship with his grandchildren. Pre-deceased by 2 brothers Thomas Waterman, Homer Waterman and a sister Elizabeth Mosher. Survivors include his wife of 51 years Charlotte (McKay) Waterman of Center Barnstead, 3 daughters Mary Alice Waterman of Center Barnstead, Laurie Waterman of Fair Haven, VT, Tracy Waterman and her spouse Robin Reade of Moultonboro, NH, a sister Margaret Hoyt of Milton, VT, 3 grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Monday August 11at the North Barnstead Congregational Church, North Barnstead Rd., Center Barnstead, NH. Private family inurnment will be 11:30 am Tuesday August 12, at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. The Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Wolfeboro, NH is assisting the family with the arrangements.
