Tuftonboro-Frederick E. Hertel, 72 of Federal Corner Rd., died October 31, 2014 at his home. Fred was born in Newton, MA July 20, 1942 son of the late Frederick E. and Dorothy E. (Vanbuskirk) Hertel. He grew up in Bedford and spent his summers on Lake Winnipesaukee in Alton. Fred graduated from Manchester West High School and St Anselm College. After graduation he enlisted in the Marines serving his basic training at Paris Island then serving at Camp Lejeune. After leaving the Marines, Fred and his brother started a business as land developers. Survivors include his wife Mary Beth (Hanson) Hertel of Tuftonboro, 2 sons Jeffrey Hertel of New Durham, Michael Dyer & daughter-in-law Barbara of Pikesville, NC, a daughter Holly Forsyth & son-in-law Todd of Cape Elizabeth, ME, a brother Van Hertel of Alton, a sister Dorothy Houle of Alton and 4 grandchildren, Jack, Avery, Milla & Brodie. A Memorial Service will be held on November 15, 2014 at 1pm.
