Paul Worcester Brigham died at age 95 on Wednesday December 10 at the Wolfeboro Care and Rehabilitation Center in Wolfeboro New Hampshire. Paul was born to Edith and Fredrick Brigham on the family farm in Norwich Vermont on April 15, 1919. He was the fourth of five brothers. Paul graduated from Hanover high school in Hanover New Hampshire in 1936. He worked for two years as a watchmaker at Davis Jewelry in Lebanon, New Hampshire. In 1939 he joined the Apprentice Program at General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts. After completing his apprenticeship in June of 1944, he enlisted in the US Navy and served as an electronics technician aboard the USS Honolulu until the end of WWII. After the war he returned to GE’s Aircraft Engine Division where he continued to work until his retirement in 1984. Paul married Violet Elizabeth Ellis in 1946. They adopted two children, Charles Brigham of Tuftonboro,,NH and the late Linda Jane Brigham. Paul and Vi have six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In 1968 he was transferred to GE’s Plastics Division in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was promoted to Plant Manager in 1972. In 1979 he returned to Lynn and resided in Boxford, Mass. During those years in Lynn, he was Project Manager working on the then, top secret Stealth Bomber. Paul has resided with his son and daughter-in-law, Charles (Chuck) and Marie Brigham and Marie’s mother Margaret Plunkett in Farmington, NH and in Tuftonboro NH since 2002. Paul was Past Master of Wayfarers Masonic Lodge in Swampscott, MA and was a member of the Morningstar Lodge in Wolfeboro, NH. In 2002 he was presented the Joseph Warren award for distinguished service by the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts. He was also a member of the Model A Club of Tuftonboro and with the help of his good friend Greg Tierney restored a 1931 Model A Cabriolet of which he was very proud. He was also a longtime Rotarian serving in most of the cities he resided. Burial will be in the spring of 2015. A memorial service is planned for that time.
