Madison, NH-Walter Karl Dorer, 89 of Huttwill Dr., Madison died June 18, at the Fryeburg Health Care in Fryeburg, ME. Born in Ridgewood, NY January 20, 1926 son of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Doenig) Dorer the doctors told his parents to take him home but he wasn’t going to survive. He proved them wrong. The greatest adventure he had said was losing his glasses down a crack in the earth during an earthquake. Returning to New York he married Annette (Fries) Dorer on May 1, 1949. He worked as a draftsman for “The Phone Company” designing telephone systems for the office buildings in New York City and moved to Elmont, NY in 1953 where they lived until 1996 raising their daughter. In 1984 he retired and went to work as a security guard in Fortunoffs, a department store on Long Island. He escorted celebrities around the store from time to time, including Darryl Strawberry, Joan Jett and Susan Lucci. In 2005 he moved to Madison, NH with his family after vacationing on nearby Lake Winnipesaukee every summer for many years and deciding it was the perfect place to live out the rest of his life.
