West Ossipee-Donald Edwin Larrabee, 85 of Route 16, West Ossipee, passed away June 24, 2015 at Genesis Healthcare-Wolfeboro Bay Center. Born February 27, 1930 in Tamworth, NH. Son of the late Raymond and Dorothy Thelma (Vittum) Larrabee, he has lived in the area all of his life. Donald proudly served his country as a Marine during the Korean Conflict. After many years working at Ames Mfg in Center Ossipee, he owned and operated Sleepy Hollow Campground and later Sleepy Hollow Ceramics. He worked as a carpenter helping build many houses and later showed his love of woodworking by turning it into a hobby and small business. He built lawn bridges, lighthouses and lawn ornaments. He was a master at the scroll saw and spent many hours in his woodworking shop making intricate wall plaques. He worked at and became manager of Watsons RV store and also worked at the White Lake store. He was a former member and Commissioner of the West Ossipee Fire Department. He was a member of the South Tamworth Methodist Church. Pre-deceased by two brothers, Alan and Arnold Larrabee and two sisters, Mayno Evans and Betty Elliott. Also a granddaughter, Kalista Larrabee. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce (Eldridge) Larrabee of West Ossipee, a son and his wife, Dennis and Stephanie Larrabee of West Ossipee, a daughter and her husband, Diane and Roger Whiting of Wolfeboro. A sister, Dorothy Elliott of Tamworth, one granddaughter and her husband, Nichole and Jeffrey Dubuc of Wolfeboro and one great-granddaughter, Emily Dubuc. Also a sister-in-law, Donna Larrabee and two brothers-in-law, Scott Evans and Richard Elliott. As well as many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be at a later date. He will be buried at the State Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen, N.H. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society: 2 Commerce Drive, Suite 110, Bedford, NH 03110 .
