David Ashley Seamans Gentle giant, friend to all David A. Seamans, 69, of Effingham passed away July 21, 2015 at Mountain View Community in Ossipee following a valiant three-year battle against cancer. David was born the second of three siblings, to Wilmer E. and Marion E. (Hall) Seamans on Aug. 15, 1945 in Porter, Maine. David’s mother remarried to William “Bill” H. Kirker, III, in Sept. 1954 and the family moved to Bill’s Effingham farm in the shadow of the Effingham Town Hall and Masonic Lodge on Townhouse Road. David was very active with his family in 4-H and the Center Effingham Baptist Church. After graduating from Kennett High School in Conway in 1964 David went to work at Carroll County Farm in Ossipee. In 1965, David was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He returned home in August 1967. Upon returning from the war, David started his career in the woodworking industry. He worked for Max Ebel making furniture in Center Ossipee, Frankson’s Furniture in West Ossipee, and enjoyed a 20-year career at Carroll Industries in Conway until its closure in 1990. That year, David went to work at Madison Lumber Company, retiring in 2012. David was a proud veteran and Effingham resident, serving not only his country but also his community. He worked as a cemetery caretaker, transfer station attendant, and town auditor. David also was a volunteer firefighter in the 1970’s and, most recently, a member of the town’s zoning board. David is survived by three sons, Randall Seamans of Limington, Maine, Scott Seamans of Concord, N.C., and Christopher Seamans and his wife Mellisa of Effingham; a brother, Richard Seamans of Freedom; a sister, Cheryl (Seamans) Daudelin and her husband Vincent of Middleton; grandchildren Ashley, Molly, Jacob, Owen, Kyle, and Alannah; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a Veterans charity of your choice. Visiting hours will be held Monday, July 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Baker-Gagne Funeral Home, 2395 Route 16, West Ossipee, N.H. A private burial will be held at a later date.
