Tuftonboro-Gary Thomas Steinbach, 64 of Union Wharf Rd., Tuftonboro died Aug. 8, 2015 at his home surrounded by family after a 14 month battle with brain cancer. He was born April 13, 1951 in Albany, NY son of Mathew and Doris (McCarthy) Steinbach. Gary served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Army. After his discharge he became a printer, opening his own printing shop and teaching printing at Franklin Pierce College. He earned 2 master’s degrees and became a drug and alcohol counselor then a guidance counselor and teacher. He umpired/refereed basketball, soccer, baseball and softball. He was a friend of Bill W for 29 years, loved to travel, attend sporting events, concerts, and cultural events. Devoting his life to kids he was Santa in Wolfeboro for 3 years. Pre-deceased by a daughter Elizabeth Steinbach, father Matthew Steinbach and 2 brothers Daniel Steinbach and James Steinbach he is survived by his wife Terry (Wheeler) Steinbach of Tuftonboro, 5 sons Gabriel and his wife Barbara Steinbach of St. Louis, MO, Isiah and his wife Dove Steinbach of McKinleville, CA, Nathan Steinbach of Concord, NH, Simon and his wife Suzanna Steinbach of St. Louis, MO, James Steinbach of Simsbury, CT, his mother Doris Steinbach of Athol, MA, 2 brothers David and his wife Marie Steinbach of Maynard, MA, Mathew Steinbach of Baltimore, MD, 4 sisters Christine and her husband Michael Flannery of Athol, MA, Marylou and her husband Bruce Wilkinson of Ashland, OH, Tracey and her husband Christopher Donovan of North Hampton, NH, Patricia and her husband Scott Pilsbury of Boscawen, NH, a sister in law Linda Steinbach of Milton, NH, 3 stepsons Edward and his wife Anne Coulstring of Pittsfield, NH, Nicholas Coulstring of Moultonboro, NH, Ernest Coulstring of Manchester, NH, 2 stepdaughters Crystalynn and her husband Jereme Alley of Laconia, NH Kimberly Johnson of Laconia, NH, grandchildren Addison, Ellory, Setia and Maryanne Steinbach, Step-grandchildren Aja, Alyssa, Jacob, Kasey, Jack, Jeffrey and Jameson Coulstring, and many nieces and nephews. Calling Hours will be 2-4 and 6:30to 8:30 PM Monday August 17, 2015 at the Baker-Gagne Funeral Home, 85 Mill St., Wolfeboro, NH. A Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Tuesday August 18, 2015 at St. Katharine Drexel Church in Alton, NH. A reception will be held at the Boathouse at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH after the service.
