Ann Holcombe passed away peacefully on November 22, 2020. She was 96 years young. She was a resident of Wolfeboro, NH for 52 years where she made many friends. She did volunteer work for Meals On Wheels, the annual Huggins Hospital Street Fair and the Yankee Clipper, now known as Wolfeboro Bay Center- Genesis. She was an avid Boston Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics fan. She was born March 1, 1924 and raised in Washington DC where she enjoyed roller skating, visiting the Smithsonian museums and going to the “Senators” (now “Nationals”) baseball games. She attended Bryn Mawr College with major in Mathematics. Before marriage, she worked at the Army Map Service in Washington DC. She married her West Point sweetheart in 1946 and began her life as a military wife of USAF pilot. As a widow, she raised her two small children on her own until she re-married another USAF pilot and then continued her life as a military wife and mother. We lived in many US states and two foreign counties before they retired in Wolfeboro in 1968. Ann was a very artistic, creative, strong-willed and humorous person. She enjoyed gourmet cooking and interior decorating as a hobby. She was full of life and a great storyteller about her adventures and humorous experiences of her childhood, various people and places she lived. When people asked her what was her secret of a long life, she responded “Do everything in moderation, make friends of all ages, and never lose your sense of humor.” She was predeceased by her two husbands. She is survived by her daughter, son, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who she loved very much. She will be missed by all.
