Ann (Flannery) Sanders, 96 of Foxglove Lane Wolfeboro passed away peacefully in her home with her daughter and her caregivers at her side Saturday February 20. Ann was born in Boston, MA April 29, 1924 daughter of the late John and Florence (Chapman) Flannery. She grew up in Duxbury, MA, Ann attended college at Bouve’ Boston School of Physical Education affiliated with Tufts University in Brighton, MA. She was the school song leader, and it was there she developed her many life long friends. Ann taught at Simmons College until 1946 when her soon-to-be-husband of 70 years returned from the Navy and they were married . They returned to her beloved Duxbury where they began their life together and started their family. Ann enthusiastically embraced each move they made, living in Chicago and then California, where she sought new opportunities to pursue her artistic and creative endeavors, volunteer work, singing in the church choir, and writing her newspaper column for the Contra Costa Times. In 1986 they returned to their beloved “Foxwood” at the Lake where Arnold’s family had been since 1935 and spent 6 months a year until they permanently moved in 1994 .There Ann hosted her annual Bouve’ reunion for 25 years and was happiest when she was surrounded by friends and family. Ann loved music, writing, reading, rug hooking and creating anything that would keep her hands busy. Her wit, humor and gratitude for her many friends was authentic to who she was. Ann was Pre-Deceased by her husband Arnold C. Sanders Sr. in 2017and a son Arnold C. Sanders Jr. in 2001. She is survived by a daughter Karen Sanders of Tuftonboro, a niece Judith Chapman Mitchell of Tarrytown, NY, a daughter in-law Donna Sanders of California, and 2 grandchildren Brandon and Kerry Sanders of California. Services will be in the spring at St Katharine Drexel Church in Alton followed by burial in Lakeview Cemetery.
