Avis B White, age of 105, one of the oldest residents of Wolfeboro NH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at her home with family by her side. She was born on May 15, 1917 in Eaton NH. She was one of four daughters born to Willis and Ellen Bean of Eaton NH. They moved to Wolfeboro NH when Avis was a young child. Avis has spent most of her life in Wolfeboro, attending carpenter school and Brewster Academy.
She married her beloved husband, Joseph W White of Wolfeboro in 1935 (who predeceased her in 1979). They began raising a family of three children. A daughter Sandy (who predeceased her in 2003), and two sons, Jimmy (who predeceased her in 2004) and Gary White of Wolfeboro. She was always a busy women attending to her own family while housekeeping, babysitting, and gardening for other families in the Wolfeboro area. Besides her own love of gardening, she also enjoyed knitting and sewing in her spare time, and would often clothe the neighborhood with her passion.
Avis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend to all. She always enjoyed the family visits (most recently from great granddaughter Jessica), or phone calls (especially from her sister in-law Martha White Baxter from Idaho).
Besides her love for life, family, friends and animals (she would watch deer from her window) Avis was a lifelong Red Sox Fan, with Carl Yastrzemski #8, being one of her favorite players.
Avis will be truly missed by all who knew her. Avis's three sisters Doris, Pauline, and Rena predeceased her. She is survived by her son Gary White of Wolfeboro. Grandchildren Penny, Pam, Patricia, Joey and Jamie. Seven Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
