Dorothy R. Burns

NASHUA - Dorothy R. Burns, formerly of Wolfeboro, NH and Melrose, MA, passed Thursday morning, October 5, 2023 while comforted by her son and daughter at The Huntington At Nashua. She was the beloved wife of the late William H. Burns, Jr for over 50 years.
Dorothy was born in Stoneham, MA on August 17, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Joel and Bertha (Folsom) Whittemore. She was predeceased by her brothers, Lee and Truman.
Surviving Dorothy are her son, Kenneth of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Martha of Nashua, NH, Dana and his wife, Anne of Millbury, MA and Andrew and his wife, Tracy of Liberty Township, OH, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Dorothy was a graduate of Simmons College, earning a B.S. She raised her family in Melrose where she and her husband lived for 38 years. The couple retired to Wolfeboro in 1992 where she was active in the Ladies of the Lake Quilters, was a member of the First Christian Church of Wolfeboro and Chapter P-NH.
Her family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the care she received from the nurses and staff at The Huntington at Nashua over the past 6 years.
Her services will be private.
