The phenomenal journey of a life well lived came to an end on November 28th when Eric Taussig passed away. He was at home; his beloved family and pets were by his side. Eric was born in London, England on May 13, 1944 to Walter Taussig and Gerda (Nass) Taussig. Eric graduated from Scarsdale High School, Adelphi University, and New York University where he earned a master’s degree in International Relations. He was a proud 1971 graduate of NYU Law School. Eric started his legal career as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of New York and subsequently served as a Senior Attorney at CBS, Inc. Eric spent 25 years at Philip Morris, Inc. last holding positions of Vice President and Associate General Counsel. He retired in 2002 and started his own law firm, working alongside son, Richard, a 2011 graduate of Vermont Law School. A member of the Bar Associations of New York, New Hampshire, and the District of Columbia, Eric was also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. Eric was a loving husband to wife, Marlene for 46 years of marriage. Together they traveled the world while raising children, Melanie and Richard. Passionate about music, Eric was an accomplished amateur classical pianist, especially enjoying Chopin and Brahms. He was an avid animal lover, bird watcher, and conservationist, lending generous philanthropic support to numerous organizations devoted to animal welfare and nature preservation efforts. Eric took pleasure in the arts and was an outdoor enthusiast; he particularly loved skiing and as recently as 2022 renewed his season pass at Cannon Mountain (NH). Eric is survived by wife, Marlene, daughter, Melanie, son, Richard, dog, Paddington, and cat, Pepe. A celebration of life will be hosted by family next spring overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee, one of Eric’s most cherished places. Condolences may be offered at www.baker-gagnefuneralhomes.com
