Geraldine Catherine Conroy

July 7, 1960 — December 10, 2022

Geraldine (Gerry) Catherine Conroy, 62, of Tuftonboro, transitioned peacefully at home with family and friends by her side on December 10, 2022. Gerry was born July 7, 1960, in Cleveland, Ohio to Geraldine (nee Gallagher) and Robert (Bob) Conroy. Gerry was the fifth of what would be eight children. She was the only girl and always had her 7 Brothers to look after her. She graduated from Saint Augustine Academy in 1978. Upon graduation, she eagerly began to experience different parts of the United States but ultimately met her former husband Rick Burns and settled in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire in 1983. Gerry was known by everyone in the Wolfeboro and Tuftonboro areas ~ she waited on us, tended bar for us, catered parties, mentored others at ‘her’ restaurants and helped friends when they were sick. She laughed, danced, and cried with us. Gerry was loved by everyone who came in contact with her. Her bright smile, her laugh, and her constant positive attitude attracted all of us to her since she arrived in Wolfeboro. She had such an amazing group of friends - proven by the masses that came from near and far during her time in hospice prior to passing. She held court, smiling and greeting each one of us with her love and joy. Gerry is survived by her decades-long partner, John (Jack) Brown. Jack and Gerry worked together in so many events and restaurants including the Lakeview Inn, J&G’s Place at the Kingswood Golf Course and “J& G’s Place” on Union Street. Jack would typically be in the back cooking up wonderful dishes while Gerry worked the front, service-side. Jack and Gerry’s yard was always filled with amazing flowers and their home was always open to any that wished to visit. The incredible legacy of love left behind includes her stepmother (Marian), 7 brothers, spouses and families: Kevin (Catholic Priest, missionary in Cambodia), Terrance (Terry) and his wife Mary Sheila, sons Kyle and Danny, daughter Erin, Lawrence (Larry) and his wife Karen Ann, daughter Catherine (Cat), Danny and his wife Dolores (Dee), sons Clint and Kevin, Owen and his wife Laura, sons Andrew, Michael, Nicholas and Alexander, Patrick and his wife Jennifer, daughter Margaret (Maggie), and Robert and his wife Corona. Gerry was always so proud of her brothers that had spread all over the world, including Cambodia, Mexico, California, Virginia, and Ohio. When cancer was taking its final toll, her brothers arrived from around the globe to fulfill her wish that they be together one last time. There are other wishes hoped to be fulfilled. We all know Gerry’s love of sunshine, and how she’d collect those rays at Pier 19 Beach! We wish to place a memorial bench or chair there in ‘her spot’. Gerry would be so grateful if we would donate to Kevin’s ministry in Cambodia and, in appreciation of the amazing care and assistance given by Cornerstone VNA - Hospice, Gerry hoped to contribute to their agency.
