James Griffin, 86, of Fowlers Mill Rd., Tamworth, NH peacefully passed away on March 18 at the Maine Medical Center, Portland, ME.
Born April 11, 1937, son of the late Stuart and Rita (Griffin) Peppard, “Jim” grew up in Allston, MA before residing in Tamworth.
Jim was employed as a gardener for the City of Boston before he retired to Tamworth, NH. He was a Master Gardener who used his talent to develop and grow the many varieties of beautiful flowers in the Boston Public Garden.
Jim was also a lover of all animals; especially, cats and his “pet” bear, Jake, whom he fed daily in NH. Jim also prepared food for a variety of birds; especially, the Hummingbirds who arrived early each spring. As he hung the nectar-filled feeders from the top of the garage, multiple hummingbirds would land on Jim, as he set out the feeders from atop a twelve foot ladder. In Tamworth not only did he enjoy tending to the animals, Jim planted a variety of flowers, vegetables, bushes and trees.
Predeceased by his mother, father, Ronald Peppard, Stuart (Skip) Peppard, he is survived by his sister Maureen Walker and her husband, John Walker, many nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to especially thank his cousin Kelly Morrison and her husband John for the many years of devoted care she graced Jim. We would also like to thank Beth Lowry, Heidi Palmer, Craig Swanson, and the Visiting Nurse Homecare of Carol County for their assistance with Jim.
A graveside service will be held at Wonalancet Cemetery in Tamworth, May 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
The Baker-Gagne Funeral Homes of Wolfeboro and West Ossipee, NH are assisting the family with the arrangements.
