Judith Whitacre Kessel

Judith Whitacre Kessel died peacefully on January 10, 2024 with her family by her side.
Judy was born on April 6, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois. She had a passion for education; after attending Purdue University and earning her master's degree from Sacred Heart University, Judy taught 1st grade in Darien, CT for 30 years. She leaves her legacy through her daughters Sally Allen (husband Pete Allen), Cindy Kessel Hollingsworth (d.2014, wid. Chuck Hollingsworth) and Kathryn Kessel, and her cherished grandsons: Ryan Allen, Casey Allen, Carson Hollingsworth, Grant Hollingsworth, and Brady Hollingsworth (d. 2021) as well as her beloved and locally-famous cat "Clawdia".
Judy was a life-long learner, avid reader, accomplished quilter, piano player, card player, consistent Scrabble and Rummikub winner, and an OG lake girl having grown up on Lake Geneva, WI and living in Wolfeboro, NH on Lake Winnipesaukee.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the Lakes Region Humane Society (irhs.net) or the Loon Preservation Committee/Loon Center (loon.org).
A gathering will be held from 3:00- 5:00pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Baker Gagne Funeral Home 85 Mill St., Wolfeboro, NH 03894.
