Lawrence P. Weeks

August 10, 1922 — August 30, 2018

Lawrence P. Weeks, age 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, NH. The second son of Guy and Margaret Evelyn Weeks, nee Stevens, Lawrence was born in a car on High Street as his parent’s drove to the hospital on August 10, 1922. Shortly thereafter, his mother passed away and he was raised by his stepmother, Clara Clark. Lawrence proudly served our country as a private first class in the Army stationed in Africa. Upon discharge, he went to work at New England Bell, which eventually became AT&T, where he worked until his retirement. He was a member of the Wolfeboro Masonic Temple. In the 70’s and 80’s, if you happened to be in downtown Wolfeboro, you might remember Lawrence sitting in his car in his favorite spot in front of the Post Office or on the bench in front of Spencer Hughes Realty during his daily trip to town to get the Manchester Union or weekly to buy the Grunter. Lawrence loved listening to his police scanner and chatting people up on the news of the day around town. In his younger days, Lawrence was often described by friends as the life of the party. His favorite day would include a juicy steak, some scallops, a Canadian Club with a splash of water and a Friday night game of Canasta or Cribbage with Family and friends. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother; his loving bride of 53 years, Bertha “Bert” Taylor; his son, William “Billy” Weeks; brothers Alfred and Harry; his sister-in-law Bessie; half-sister, Sandy; brother-in-law Skip Taylor and nephew, Mike Taylor. He is survived by his half-brother Henry; half-sisters, Nancy, Judy, Roberta, Pam and Patsy. As well as many nieces and nephews including, Brad, Tim, Matt and Cyndi Taylor. A graveside service will be 1:00 PM Saturday October 13, at Woodmans Cemetery in Wakefield. The Baker-Gagne Funeral Homes and Cremation Service of Wolfeboro is assisting the family with the arrangements.
