Marilyn Olive Kay

Marilyn (Wright) Kay, former resident of Lawrence, MA and Delray Beach, FL , passed away on July 24th. She had currently been living at Wolfeboro Bay Center, Wolfeboro, NH for the past 4 years. Marilyn was born on December 27, 1927 in Gilbertville, MA to Lillian (Twible) and Wellman Wright. She grew up in Lawrence, graduating from Lawrence High School in 1945, and lived and worked in that city till retiring to Florida in 1989 with her loving husband, Stanley. In 2010 the couple relocated to Wolfeboro to be near their daughter. Marilyn’s career in women’s merchandising began in a number of clothing stores in downtown Lawrence. From there she became an employee of the City of Lawrence for twenty-five years retiring as Senior Clerk in the City Clerk’s office in 1989. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Stanley I. Kay, to whom she was a devoted wife for 66 years before his passing in 2013. Stanley was actively involved in the Masonic Lodge in Massachusetts and traveled extensively to conventions throughout the United States. Marilyn was always by his side and took great pleasure in the social and travel opportunities that were an integral part of his Masonic work. Mrs. Kay will be greatly missed by her daughter Linda Pacheco and son-in-law George Pacheco of Wolfeboro, NH, grandson Joshua Pacheco and his wife Erin of Great Barrington, MA , and granddaughter Jennifer Rooney and her husband Matthew of New Rochelle, NY. Mrs. Kay’s family also includes seven cherished great-grandchildren, Everett, Cora and Elise Pacheco and Jack, Declan, Charlotte and Juliette Rooney. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, among them Joyce Andrew of Salem, NH and Sheryl Wright of Lawrence, MA who visited their Aunt Marilyn regularly in her later years. A graveside memorial service will be held on the grounds of Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence for family members. The Baker-Gagne Funeral Home in Wolfeboro is assisting the family with arrangements.
