Obituary

Marion Faith Diegelmann Judy, 93, of Wethersfield, Connecticut, and a summer resident of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire for over 50 years, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Hartford Hospital.

Marion was born on July 31, 1933, in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Washington, D.C. and Chevy Chase, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Gregory Leo Diegelmann and Marion Isabel (Greenwell) Diegelmann.

In 1958, Marion graduated from The George Washington University Law School and passed the bar exam in Washington, D.C. That same year, she married fellow law school graduate, William Raines Judy, and they shared 49 years of marriage until his death in 2007. She chose to devote herself to raising her family. In 1963, the family moved to Wethersfield, Connecticut, where Marion made her home for the remainder of her life.

In 1975, the family purchased a cottage in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, beginning a cherished tradition of spending summers there with family and friends. Marion treasured these summers and the time she spent on the golf course with her husband and children, as well as with friends in her golf leagues. She was a longtime member of both Wethersfield Country Club in Wethersfield Connecticut and Kingswood Golf Club in Wolfeboro New Hampshire.

Marion had a love of travel, and the family took many trips together. Some of her memorable trips included Europe, Bermuda, Alaska and Hilton Head Island.

Marion also enjoyed downhill and cross-country skiing, bowling, and playing duplicate bridge with friends. She had a lifelong love of learning, and delighted in reading, conducting research, and challenging herself with crossword puzzles. Her curiosity and enjoyment of intellectual pursuits remained an important part of her life. She was willing to try anything once, no matter how daring, even parasailing in her 70s.

Marion’s greatest legacy was her family, whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her son, David W. Judy and his wife, Sharon Thayer, of Kissimmee, Florida; and her three daughters, Emily F. Judy of Wethersfield, Connecticut; Marianne R. (Judy) Brumley, her husband, Chad, and their son, Joshua, of Cypress, Texas; and Hilary F. (Judy) Vatter, her husband, Andy, their son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Katie, and their daughters, Grace and Anna, of Port Washington, Wisconsin. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Emma Judy, and Emma’s mother, Mary O’Connell-Judy of East Hampton, Connecticut.

Burial will be private at Lakeview Cemetery in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Loaves and Fishes Ministry, Inc. in Hartford, Connecticut, The Children’s Center in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
