Nancy Marie (Sedler) Martin, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on February 27, 2025, at the age of 81, with her children by her side.
Nancy was born in Salem, MA, on August 14, 1943, the youngest daughter of Vasil and Mary (Smagula) Sedler. She grew up in Middleton, MA, graduating from Masconomet Regional High School, Boxford, MA in 1961 – the same year she married her husband, Arthur Martin. They relocated to West Newbury, MA shortly after marrying to raise their family. Nancy spent a few years working in Washington, D.C., before relocating to Moultonborough, NH, in 2002 to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
The youngest of six children, Nancy had a deep love for gardening, finding joy in nurturing flowers and creating beautiful outdoor spaces. She also had a passion for antiques, something she shared with her siblings—always searching for hidden treasures and appreciating the stories behind them. She was a warm and welcoming friend to all who knew her. However, nothing brought her greater happiness than her two children, her beloved grandchildren, and her large extended family.
Family gatherings were at the heart of her life, especially during the holidays, which she and her sisters and sisters-in-law lovingly organized. These cherished moments—filled with laughter, love, and tradition—will forever be held in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Nancy will be forever remembered by her children: Donna (Martin) Lawless and Thomas Owen of Orford, NH and Douglas and Paula (Engheben) Martin of Tuftonboro, NH; and her grandchildren: Matthew, Connor and Nicole Lawless, and Emily and Austin Martin. She leaves behind a brother, Daniel Sedler of Melvin Village, NH, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers W. Edward Sedler and Robert Sedler and her sisters, Nina Swift and Shirley Sedler.
A small graveside gathering is planned for the spring.
