Paul Gore Dickie, 92, of Pine St., Wolfeboro passed away March 1, 2021 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. Born in Arlington, MA December 10, 1928 son of the late Rodman L. and Edith (Gore) Dickie, he was a long time resident of Sudbury, MA and spent part of every summer at his family camp on Lake Wentworth, moving fulltime to Wolfeboro in 1999. Paul was very proud of his family and led a long and happy life. He was quick with a joke or a funny story and never passed up an opportunity to point out a homonym or a prime number. He loved to skate and ski and sail his sunfish. His sailboat was dubbed the “Green Hornet” when racing on such places as Quitsa Pond in Chilmark, MA. His lifelong love of music gave him much enjoyment and it was in a college singing group that he met his beloved wife. He enjoyed working with wood, building household furniture projects and even a boat for his children. He was especially interested in working on his Tree Farm in Brookfield, NH, spending many hours improving the forest. After college, Paul began his career as a mathematics teacher on Martha’s Vineyard. He served 2 years in the United States Army, then returned to teaching for over 30 years, mostly in Concord, MA. Paul spent his later years writing a book of supplemental math units for middle school students to use at school or home, available for free download at mathenriched.com. He poured his passion for math and teaching into this project and his wish was to reach every middle school in the country. Survivors include his wife of 70 years Dorothy (Fisher) Dickie, 2 sons Paul A. Dickie of Newington, CT, Peter M. Dickie of Providence, RI, a daughter Joyce E. Green of Hubbardston, MA, a sister Ruth Waldron of Brooklyn, NY, 7 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Rodman L. Dickie Jr. of Wolfeboro. Burial will be held later in Old Westside Cemetery in Edgartown, MA. The Baker-Gagne Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
