Wolfeboro-Richard “Dick” Clarke, 90 of Wolfeboro died peacefully June 28, 2018 at Wolfeboro Bay Nursing Home. Dick was born in Concord, NH Sept. 11, 1927 son of the late Robert A. and Grace (Hirtle) Clarke. He grew up in Penacook, NH and attended the local schools graduating from Penacook High School in 1945. He attended UNH and majored in Hotel Administration. Dick married Marguerite (Marshall) in Florida while he was working for a resort in Florida. Later he was a night manager of the Columbia Hotel. He decided Hotel business wasn’t for him. He then moved to Wolfeboro and started Get-Mor Service Station and then built a 10 lane candlepin bowling alley called PJ Lanes in memory of his daughter Pamela. He also built the Clarke Plaza in Wolfeboro. Dick bought the Grey Shingle in 72 and lived there for many years. He later became a rural Mail carrier. Marge and Dick moved to Mirror Lake and built a house there. He enjoyed a lot of trips. Eight years ago they moved to Sugar Hill in Wolfeboro. Dick finally had to be on oxygen full time and went to Wolfeboro Bay Nursing Home where he was well cared for. He is survived by his wife Marguerite Marge (Marshall) Clarke of Wolfeboro and a sister Joye Olson of Concord, NH. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday July 5 at the Baker-Gagne Funeral Home 85 Mill St., Wolfeboro. A Memorial Service will be 2:00 PM Friday, July 6 at The First Baptist Church in Wolfeboro.
