Ruth K Armbrust

Ruth Klotz Armbrust, 82, longtime resident of East Wakefield, New Hampshire, was surrounded by her family when she passed away on January 2, 2015. Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, Ruth was a graduate of Emerson High School and received her undergraduate degree from Jersey City State Teachers College, now known as New Jersey City University. She received her Master's Degree from Kean University. Ruth married Robert Armbrust in 1956 and they lived in Whippany, New Jersey for several years before moving to Morris Plains, New Jersey. Ruth was a teacher in the Weehawken and Morris Plains school districts, both in New Jersey. She later served as a learning disabilities consultant for the Morristownship, New Jersey, School District for many years. She and her husband own Mountainside Business Center and previously owned Armbrust Financial Services, both in Ossipee, New Hampshire. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert W. Armbrust, of East Wakefield, NH, her daughter Lori and her husband, Tom Howell, of Eliot, Maine, and her son, Wayne, of Patterson, California. She also leaves her grandchildren, Hannalea Howell and Pierce Howell, both of Eliot, Maine. She is survived by her sister, Florence Roeloffs, of Washington, New Jersey, Brother-in-Law, Ralph Armbrust and his wife, Jane, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and Sister-in-Law Kathryn Armbrust Hunt and her husband, Lew, of High Falls, North Carolina, and seven nieces and nephews: Marc Roeloffs, Saddlebrook , New Jersey, Brian Roeloffs, Sussex, New Jersey, Debbie Armbrust Kuhn, Holtsville, New York, Nancy Armbrust Kotula, Shelter Island, New York, Scott Armbrust, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Melissa Hunt Lewis, New Bern, North Carolina and Daniel Hunt, High Falls, North Carolina. Ruth believed in the power of education and was a life-long teacher in and out of her classrooms. She gave life and creation to imagination and encouraged having goals. While consulting for the Morristownship school district, she designed and implemented the New Jersey special education curriculum that began to give access to children who were not adequately served in public schools. Ruth was also an extremely talented seamstress, sewing most of her clothing, and she loved the water, having spent many childhood summers on Mombasha Lake in Monroe, NY. Ruth was a Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Wakefield Volunteers, Greater Ossipee Area Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Board of Center of Hope, in Conway, NH. She was a loving and attentive wife and mother and always made time and went the extra mile for those close to her. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Wakefield Food Pantry, P.O. Box 426, Wakefield, NH 03872. An informal gathering in Ruth's memory will be held at her home on Wednesday, January 7th beginning at 2pm.
