Theodore William “Ted” Arsenault, affectionately known as Teddy to his family and those who cared for him, passed away on October 22, 2026, at Wolfeboro Bay in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, after a long illness. He was 80.
Born in 1946, Ted and his identical twin brother, Stephen, were the youngest of seven children raised in Newton Highlands, Massachusetts. He graduated from Newton South High School in 1965 and attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Over the years, he worked in various occupations, including as an automotive mechanic specializing in foreign cars and at Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Ted was predeceased by his parents, Alice Louise Hutt Arsenault and Joseph Albin Arsenault; his brothers Robert Arsenault of Shelton, Washington, Donald Arsenault of Sandwich, Massachusetts, and the Rev. Joseph Bernard Arsenault of Rockport, Massachusetts, and Maryknoll, New York.
He is survived by his twin brother, Stephen Arsenault, and his wife, Joan, of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire; his sisters, Janet Arsenault Dailey of Rockport, Massachusetts, and Rita Lorraine Arsenault Quinn of Plymouth, Massachusetts; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
In his younger years, Ted enjoyed music, an active social life, camping in New Hampshire, and spending time with family at their summer home on Cape Cod. For a few years, he lived with his partner in Halifax, Massachusetts. Later, he spent time gardening and working on projects around his homes in Columbia Falls, Maine, and Sandwich, Massachusetts, where he lived for many years. His dogs were his pals and an important part of his life. Over time, longstanding mental and physical health challenges increasingly limited his activities and independence.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Sandwich, Massachusetts. A reception will follow.
