William Frederick Alphen

April 14, 1932 — February 16, 2024

William F. Alphen, Sr., 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024 at Wolfeboro Bay Center in Wolfeboro, NH.
He was born in Lynn, MA, the son of the late Margaret and George Alphen. Bill graduated from St. Mary’s Boys High School in Lynn, class of 1950. He enlisted in the Army (82nd Airborne Div. of the Paratroopers in 1951 with 58 jumps to his credit), was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1954. He entered the Lynn Police Dept. on Aug. 25, 1956 serving 37 years and retiring Feb. 13, 1993as Deputy Chief of Police.
Bill was a voracious reader of both newspapers and his beloved volumes of books. He also enjoyed golf with his fellow officers and friends only to return home to his beloved Pekingese.
Bill leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Marjorie and his beloved children Corinne Alphen; Robin DeStasio; William Alphen, Jr.; Scott Alphen, as well as four grandsons; Louis DeFelice; Raymond Wahl; Kurt Alphen; Michael DeStasio. He was later on graced with 4 great-granddaughters whom he loved dearly, Rachel; Sophia; Acelynn and Nova. He was pre-deceased by a son Glenn Alphen in 2015.
Special thanks to Wolfeboro Bay Staff namely Sue Soucy and the great nurses who gave him such genuine loving care this past year and too Chaplain Russ Woolbright with whom he enjoyed meaningful conversations.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes there will be no formal services.
