Winnifred L. (Odiorne) Coffin, aged 93 passed away peacefully on November 9, 2019. She was born in Clinton, MA and was raised in Wilmington, MA, She was predeceased by her father, Ralph B. Odiorne and mother, Hazel W. (Perry) Odiorne. She is also pre-deceased by her husband of 68 years, William I Coffin, Jr. and her sister Nancy J. Condon. She is survived by her sister Barbara O. Kerr, her son Glenn B. Coffin, Sr. his wife Maureen, two daughters, Linda J. McKeown, her husband Thomas and Jill O. Sanderson. She is further survived by four grandsons and two granddaughters and several great grandchildren. Winnifred was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a Grand Deputy in the International Order of Rainbow for Girls. Winnifred was a proud tenth generation descendant of the Odiorne family well known on the New Hampshire seacoast. The Odiorne family settled in Rye, NH in 1640 and established a homestead which remained intact until 1942 when the homestead was taken over by the US Government to establish Fort Dearborn. This property eventually became Odiorne State Park. Winnifred was one of the last Odiorne children who spent summers at the Odiorne farm. She began her career as a secretary for State Street Bank and Trust which served her well as she managed the office and was the primary bookkeeper for William Coffin Engineering, Inc. / Everett Avenue Welding Co. Being able to manage her husband’s business from their home in Hanover, MA was a great benefit to her children. Her family resided in Hanover, MA and summered in East Dennis on Cape Cod, eventually moving to East Dennis in 1972. Along with her husband she managed Sesuit Marine Service, Inc., located in East Dennis eventually retiring with her husband to Florida in 1986. They were long time members of the Dennis Yacht Club. Vibrant and independent, Never one to “sit still”, Winnifred maintained a part time job until aged 90 years and was always busy knitting. Winnifred was loved by all who knew her most especially close friends and family. There will be a family graveside service at Harmony Grove Cemetery in Portsmouth, NH.
